Gurney’s Black Eye Pea Phenomenal Summerpea (1 lb. Seed Packet)

Phenomenal has a creamy texture with a slightly nutty flavor. In our taste trials of 14 Southern pea varieties, Phenomenal was crowned the winner. The plant features bright ruby stems, beautiful blossoms and yellow pods with faint blushes of red. Although the main crop is concentrated in 1 or 2 pickings, Phenomenal will continue to produce at lower levels if kept picked. This bush-type Southern pea grows 2 ft. H and averages 12 peas per pod. Independent lab testing indicates that Phenomenal has over 3-times the total phenolic content of Pinkeye Purple hull peas. (Phenolic content can be considered the healthy portion of food and includes amino acids, folates and antioxidants.) Matures in 65-days.
